Greenbrier Valley Church of the Nazarene

PASTOR TERRY SIMPKINS is a native of Huntington, W.Va., and began his pastorate at Greenbrier Valley Nazarene in January 2021, coming from Festus, Missouri, where he had pastored the Nazarene congregation there for 21 years. He has served in a number of other locations as well. Terry is a graduate of Marshall University (Huntington, W.Va.), Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Springs), and Nazarene Theological Seminary (Kansas City). He teaches classes for the West Virginia South Center for Ministry Formation, designed for adult students working toward ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife, Becky, have one daughter, MaryBeth Simpkins, who lives in Huntington.

MICHAEL ATKINSON serves as our associate pastor, church treasurer, and director of Greenbrier Valley Nazarene's chapter of Nazarene Missions International, helping keep a close watch on our finances and also keeping us informed of what is going on in missions throughout the world. He also heads up our Compassionate Ministries department, overseeing ministry via our food pantry, crisis care kits, community outreach efforts, our two "adopted" children from Bangladesh, and more. He is a native of Lewisburg and Greenbrier East High School graduate who lived most of his adult life in other locations while in military service--but moved back to his beloved Greenbrier Valley in 2020.

CLIFF GIBSON directs the various activities of our church's teens and young adults, which include Sunday School class, morning worship break-out time, and numerous other activities and ministries throughout the year. His deep love for youth is evident through his passionate love for Jesus and all He can do through people of all ages who are completely surrendered to Him. Cliff and his wife, Renee, live in Ronceverte. They have two children and two grandchildren.

SUSAN NUTTER is our bookkeeper at GV Nazarene, keeping track of our many financial accounts, budgets, insurance, and all things monetary for our busy congregation. She is adept at keeping our accounts balanced, assuring that our bills are paid, and answering any questions about our finances. She and her husband, Paul, live in the White Sulphur Springs area.

JONATHAN WRIGHT currently serves as GV Nazarene's director of Nazarene Discipleship International, traditionally known as Sunday School. He oversees the Bible study classes that take place at 9:30 am each Sunday for adults, young adults, teens, and children. He also serves as church board secretary.
